Bloody Aughrim July 12, 1691 - refought by the LoA Part 4 - Williamite Order of Battle

Looking north from the Williamite right
Here is the Williamite order of Battle we used. I have not listed it in the normal format of first line, second line etc. I have used the regimental names of the units as we represented them which means that some of these units were not at the battle but our model soldiers were!

  2. Aughrim is going to stand out in my memory the way a Neerwinden game of 1992 did. It was truly a combination of scenario, period and the company and spirit in which the game was played. In such a large a battle there were so many 'calls' to be made and the gentlemanly spirit meant that even in the most tense moments common sense prevailed. I will not blow it here by telling you the result as that will unfold in the story but this was a treasured gaming experience. We'll definitely fight it again and I am sure Mr Patrick will get the opportunity to participate!

  4. Should not write so early in the morning:-(

Loveley pictures and Story about this famous Battle! Finally I learn what size those armies have been on each side. So I can now determine if I can call my Army an equal force. With those numbers in front of me I would say more or less equal. Only a little lack of quality on my side:-)

  5. Your Saxon Army is compatible in size Gunter no doubt about that. Whether the Saxons would be poorer quality is a matter of debate. I don;t think these two armies would have been of very high quality! Some good units but in general not the apex of military efficiency!
