I wrote the battle reports in the style of a 'hack' soccer sports commentator using a lot of clichés common to these types... often not known for their erudition! Tackling in soccer I am sure you understand. The 'magic sponge' is what the medical coach/physiotherapist often seems to pull from his back, rub on the player's leg and thus facilitates a miraculous recovery when the guy was dying 20 seconds prior to the treatment.
